This time last year there were multiple evacuation orders in place while flames threatened many communities. The CBC's Travis McEwan had a chance to speak with residents and fire officials about that time, and their reflections on lessons learned.

The oil-and-gas sector remains by far the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Alberta, which remains by far the largest emitter of all the provinces, but its share of Canada's total emissions has declined — slightly.
