Old Strathcona

The area now known as Old Strathcona was a separate municipality from its inception until its merger with the City of Edmonton in 1912.

In 2007, the Old Strathcona region was designated a Provincial Historic Area by the Province of Alberta.

Much of the character of Whyte Ave is due to the historic buildings constructed in the region in the early part of the 20th century.
